Community Service

As a locally owned and operated company Gold Coast Kwila works to ensure it makes a positive impact on its local community and Australia in general.  We employ local craftsmen and workers which in turn supports their families and the businesses that support those families.  We do NOT import finished furniture products from overseas so only a small part of our revenue goes offshore – the great bulk of our revenue stays in the local community to be ‘re cycled’ to many businesses and organisations in those communities.

We also pro-actively support work skills and employment programs that are designed to assist people with special needs and to give them a chance to increase their skill base and levels of confidence.  We do what we can to employ people with special needs and contribute to the wider community by engaging people who may otherwise find it difficult to gain viable and worth-while employment and skill based work experience.  We allow our factory and processes to be used by ‘special needs’ organisations to ‘test’ and monitor their clients abilities and potential for employment in other companies.

We regularly offer work experience opportunities to young people still at school and vacation work to school age youth who are interested in working in our industry.

We also act as responsibly as we can to reduce any negative impact we may have on the local and macro environment.  As a company we actively encourage the minimization of land-fill and waste.  Our product is designed to last many generations and in this way we believe we are making a worthwhile contribution to the reduction of waste from cheap, inferior quality furniture that has a very short life span – e.g. plastic table and chairs (which degrade and collapse from UV damage), low quality Aluminium and glass settings (which rust/collapse and rot) etc.

We actively support the Kyoto Protocol and other environmental imperatives (refer to our ENVIRONMENT section in ABOUT US on our web site) and are always looking for ways to reduce any negative environmental footprint that we may have.
